The Canyon House

Nestled in the scenic hills of Arroyo Grande, California, this comprehensive residential remodel was designed for a busy professional couple transitioning into their "empty nester" era. As owners of their own practice, the clients needed a sanctuary that balanced high-level functionality with a sophisticated, personalized aesthetic. This project was a true "turn-key" experience, spanning from initial architectural layout solutions to the final styling for professional photography.

The Color-Drenched Master Suite

The goal for the Master Bedroom was "dramatic, sexy, and cozy." We leaned into the clients' love for green to create a high-impact, immersive environment.

  • Immersive Cabinetry: We designed custom, floor-to-ceiling built-in cabinetry in the same rich green as the walls. This unit seamlessly integrates a media center, open library shelving, and deep drawer storage.
  • Color Drenching: A monochromatic approach where the walls, ceiling, and custom velvet drapery (by Windows by Design) all share the same deep hue, accented by warm wood tones and brass hardware.
  • The Master Bath: An "Ode to Yosemite" featuring vertical-stacked green tiles and pebbled shower floors. The champagne bronze fixtures provide a high-end contrast to the natural-grained textures.

The Dream Laundry Room

To support the clients' active lifestyle—transitioning from morning pilates to back-to-back client meetings—we expanded the existing floorplan.

  • The Build: Moved walls and rerouted plumbing/electrical to create a dedicated utility space.
  • The Details: Features custom cabinetry, a deep utility sink, and a bespoke space-saving drying rack on a vintage-inspired pulley system.

Guest Bathroom

The guest bathroom serves as a bright, sophisticated retreat with intentional moments of interest.

  • The Palette: A custom sage green vanity paired with champagne bronze hardware and a warm wood-framed round mirror.
  • Texture & Layout: Vertical white wainscot tiling adds height and interest, leading into the shower area with marble embossed decorative tile.

From the stained walnut double vanity to the arched laquered mirror and textured linen bedding, every piece was curated to ensure the home feels like a lived-in "palace." The original floorplan lacked the functional flow necessary for our clients' lifestyle. The primary challenge was integrating a full-service laundry room into the existing footprint without compromising the existing necessary spaces. By reimagining the interior and collaborating closely with Cencoast Construction on the remodel, we resolved the layout issues early in the process. This allowed for timely decision-making on high-lead-time items like the custom walnut vanities and specialty tiles, ensuring the project stayed on schedule for its final debut.

  • Client Satisfaction: The homeowners now describe their residence as their own "private sanctuary," perfectly suited for their new chapter of life.
  • Efficiency: Successfully managed the entire procurement and installation timeline, delivering a fully furnished home ready for professional editorial photography.
  • Design Integrity: Seamlessly integrated the clients' love for nature and the color green into a cohesive, luxury aesthetic that flows throughout the home.

"We are in love with our remodel! Timely Designs was an excellent choice. Carlee gave life and reality to our desires and inspirations— then she sprinkled her fine touches on everything, making it more beautiful than we could’ve imagined! The services of Timely Designs are more than a design plan. Carlee is extremely organized, oversees the project, and keeps to the schedule. She procured the materials and furniture, making sure everything was on time and on budget. She worked well with our contractor and was not afraid to point out corrections that needed to be made. My husband says he can’t believe this is our house. The finished product is a dream!" - Margie and Ken P., Homeowners
